Chief Blackbelly

Chief Blackbelly was a black (of African American descent) Indian but his real name was Joseph.  He was born in 1799 and his mom was probably an escaped slave.  When he grew up he became an indian chief and they called him Blackbelly.  If it wasn’t for a photographer that took his picture he would’ve gone unnoticed.  Here is a picture:   

Chief blackbelly died in 1904 and lived 105 years old!  He was a cheyenne warrior and he is a black indian he also was a very wrinkly man in the picture it shows that he is in a head dress.  If you want to hear more about him go to the Favell museum in Klamath falls, OR.  (just for you uncle Jim)
